| Dream Documentation #15 |
[Apr. 14th, 2008|09:38 am] |
I had a dream involving two guys who I didn't recognize but felt like friends of mine. We were at a place that felt like my home and they went out back to pee. Come to think of it, I might have been one of the fellows in the beginning but as they went outside to relieve themselves, I switched to a third person. This is a bit inconsistent, looking back on it it seemed like there were only 2 people and then I was definitely there. So "we" went outside and as we were about to pee (I already had) one of the guys noticed the yard next door and how amazing the flora was next door. For some reason this came to a shock to all of us. We might have actually been peeing in this yard and not mine. I remember a little girl running around in the yard and I didn't want her to see me urinate on a tree or something. I'm pretty sure she saw us. Well, my two mates yelled when they started to sink into the earth. I wasn't quite like how I would picture quicksand, but more like a miniature sink hole. I looked around for a stick large enough to pull them out for a bit. When I found one there was a strange glowing coming from the sand. As I extended the stick for one of the they both felt things moving around an on them. I couldn't pull the one guy I was trying to pull up right away and he started to get bitten by these small glowing ants. I pulled the other guy out and as far as I can remember that's when the dream ended. |

| [ | mood |
| | exhausted | ] | I've been enjoying this new house too much and how amazing my small group of friends can be. Though I'm not really meeting anybody new this semester, which I was hoping to do. What time is not spent in good company, I've spent reading, jotting things down (no, not creatively writing. I'm not going to pretend that I can do that right now) or in the studio. I wish I could show some things that I've been working on, but it's a bit of a pain to still not have my own computer and I spend as little time in the library as possible. I'll post the design for my show postcard as soon as I have it finished (Friday hopefully).
I had my first critique on an installation of my work. We don't have an installation class here, so this show is kind of an independent study, in a sense. I need more feedback though, I'm not used to thinking in 3-D so that part of the installation is lacking, though Cyriaco thought the 2-D portion was very successful. I need to flesh out my artist statement a bit more. I have one strong line and then I had about 3 or 4 sentences of complete filler. I'm excited about this show on so many different levels. After today, I'm most excited about not dealing with most of the other people that are in this show anymore. This is by far the most uninterested about art senior art group in the past 4 years at Stetson, which isn't to say the show will be bad in the least.
I hope more than 5 people I know form outside Stetson will show up. So come to DeLand March 14th. |

| | excited | ] | March 14th: Opening of Stetson Senior Thesis Exhibition I'll have works in the Duncan Art Gallery on Stetsons campus. We have about 14 Fine and Digital Art majors that will be displaying their thesis work and it's all looking really good thus far. I'll be sending out postcards and putting up some photos of my work as well as some shots of the other students work to remind people and give a taste of what's to come. |

It is this attitude which today gives birth to these ridiculous books, these insulting plays. It constantly feeds on and derives strength from the newspapers and stultifies both science and art by assiduously flattering the lowest of tastes; clarity bordering on stupidity, a dog's life. The activity of the best minds feels the effects of it; the law of the lowest common denominator finally prevails upon them as it does upon the others. [...}" - André Breton, 1924
what has happened?
Everybody passed their senior art proposals this year. The show, which is in late March should be really good. Everybody should try to come see it, if not the opening itself. |

You will be the opposite of disappointed if you listen to my friend Steven's music . He has an angel's voice.
My knee is currently injured. I'm in the early stages of something having to do with my muscles being stronger in one area than another causing my kneecap to not be right. Trying to get better so I can get fast, which I'm determined to do. I can't ride my bike right now though, so I'm thinking of just selling my fixed gear, as I think it may have something to do with my injury. If you're interested in it or know anybody who would be, let me know. It's a damn fine bike. |
